Occupational Medicine Residency Program

Occupational medicine is a specialty that deals clinically and administratively with the health needs of both individuals and groups with respect to their working environment and, increasingly, with the general environment.

It includes the recognition, evaluation, control, management, and prevention of occupationally and environmentally related diseases and injuries as well as assessment of fitness for work and vocational disability. Residents are expected to sit the examinations in Occupational Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Typically, graduates of the program are employed in government agencies, industries, research and teaching, private clinics, or as consultants in the field of occupational health and safety.
